Obie Fernandez is a Ruby and Rails pioneer, and best-selling author of The Rails Way. With three decades in software and a string of successful startups—including Hashrocket and Andela—he's helped shape the Rails community from the start. Obie now leads AI and developer experience initiatives at Shopify, and still finds time to DJ and make music in Mexico City.
A conversation about the intersection of Ruby and AI technologies, exploring opportunities and challenges.
Full-stack Ruby on Rails developer and open source enthusiast, Marco is a core contributor to Hotwire and StimulusReflex. He's passionate about pushing the boundaries of real-time, server-rendered apps with HTML-over-the-wire, and maintains several key libraries in the Hotwire and Rails ecosystem.
Carmine Paolino builds AI products with Ruby and has been obsessed with developer experience since he started coding as a kid. He's the creator of RubyLLM and founder of Chat with Work, an AI-coworker and previously co-founded Freshflow, where he helped build AI systems for supermarkets at scale. Before that, he worked as a Machine Learning Scientist/Engineer at OLX, Capgemini, and the Alan Turing Institute. Outside software, he makes house/disco music and runs Berlin's Floppy Disco collective.
Everyone says you need Python to build serious AI apps. That used to be true for training models, but most teams today are building products on top of APIs. This talk shows, with real code and production experience, why Ruby can be a better default for that work: less ceremony, cleaner agent abstractions, and faster iteration.
The thesis is simple: when complexity drops, product quality goes up.

Our journey began with the Warsaw Meetup series, where a shared love for Ruby brought developers together. In
July 2023, we celebrated this community with the inaugural Ruby Warsaw Community Conference, welcoming over 100
developers from across Europe.
In February 2025, Cracow became the stage for our winter edition, where participants explored new ideas, shared
their expertise, and forged lasting connections in a vibrant atmosphere.
Building on these experiences, we’re excited to announce that in 2026 we’ll meet again in Cracow continuing the tradition of bringing the Ruby community together for inspiring talks, practical workshops, and exceptional networking.

Talks:
Trip to Wieliczka Salt Mine - trip to the UNESCO-listed World Heritage Site, including round-trip train transport from Kraków and a 2–3 hour English-guided tour.
A separate ticket was required, but no conference ticket was needed to join - a chance to bring friends and explore this unique place together with fellow Ruby enthusiasts.
